South Sudan: Rolling to the rim, wheelchair basketball coach sees confidence grow

Sports are extremely important for people with disabilities. They instil confidence and fight stigma and exclusion. We invited Jess Markt, a world-class wheelchair basketball coach from the United States, to lead training sessions for wheelchair basketball players in South Sudan.

The ICRC supports three physical rehabilitation centers in South Sudan that provide mobility devices and therapy for people with disabilities. And we support the wheelchair basketball community in the capital, Juba, where players have been improving their skills on the court with the help of Markt.
