Fiji

Fiji is a tropical island nation located in Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean. It is an archipelago comprising more than 332 islands, 110 of which are permanently inhabited. Fiji is located about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand, and its immediate neighbours include Vanuatu, Tonga and Samoa.

ICRC is delivering mattresses to the Fiji Corrections Service in the aftermath of Cyclone Evan.

Our work in Fiji

The ICRC has been active in Fiji for 22 years, promoting respect for international humanitarian law (IHL) and raising awareness of other humanitarian issues with governments, security forces, academic circles, the media and civil society. We help communities affected by conflict, visit detainees and support the National Red Cross Societies in the region.

ICRC offices supporting the region: Our work in Fiji is supported by the regional delegation in Bangkok, with additional support coming from our offices in Papua New Guinea and Canberra.
