This internship provides practical exposure to accounting, account analysis and reconciliation while supporting the AAR team in its day-to-day activities. 

The intern will primarily support the monitoring and reconciliation of insurance-related accounts, including the use of the centralized tracking tool for insurance-related cases, as well as provide support during monthly and year-end closing activities.

Main responsibilities

Under the guidance and supervision of the AAR Team Lead and designated AAR team members, the intern will:

  • Monitor insurance-related accounts, including reimbursements, claims, and other related transactions
  • Use and maintain the centralized communication and tracking tool for insurance-related cases, including updating relevant information, follow-up actions, and case statuses
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing accounting entries and account balances
  • Perform account reconciliations and assist in identifying and investigating discrepancies and outstanding items
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliation schedules and related working files
  • Support STM management by monitoring incoming requests, maintaining and properly filing relevant documentation and communications in TS, and routing requests to the appropriate AAR team members
  • Perform integrity checks to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting information
  • Review supporting documentation and assist in validating the basis of accounting transactions
  • Prepare journal entries and accounting adjustments for review and approval by the responsible AAR team member
  • Assist the team during monthly and year-end closing activities
  • Provide administrative and operational support to the AAR team as required
  • Identify recurring reconciliation issues and contribute ideas to improve insurance monitoring and reporting processes

Selection requirements

  • Preferably currently pursuing, or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management Accounting, or another related business/finance field.
  • Motivated, curious and eager to learn  
  • Good attention to detail  
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team  
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Interest in accounting, finance, data and business processes
