The Protection Field Officer supports the implementation and monitoring of ICRC’s Protection activities within the assigned Area of Responsibility (AoR) under the Butuan Sub-delegation. 

Responsibilities

  • Implements and monitors the application of the delegation’s protection strategy in places of detention under the BUU AoR, in coordination and under the supervision of the Protection Delegate
  • Contributes to the implementation of the programme which facilitates family contact between ICRC’s clients, including follow-ups required, review of cases, preparation of visits, in accordance with established guidelines
  • Leads in drafting detention visit reports, interviews with witnesses, and/or other reporting requirements in accordance with existing detention guidelines/workflows.
  • Leads the smooth implementation of the Family Visit Program, including follow-ups required with families or beneficiaries, regular review of dormant cases,  etc.
  • Supports the department’s initiatives pertaining to Protecting Family Links programme
  • Aligned to the department’s strategy and working procedures leads the protection activities within his/her assigned Area of Responsibility (context analysis, community engagement, networking with stakeholders etc.

Required profile

  • Bachelors' degree in politics, international studies, conflict studies or related social science field
  • Exposure in context analysis, project management and networking 
  • Good understanding of the political and social context of Mindanao
  • Must know how to communicate in English and Bisaya
