The Water and Habitat (WatHab) Generalist Project Officer plans, designs and implements engineering projects within the scope of the ICRC WatHab assistance objectives. The responsible will be supervised and coached by the WatHab programme manager.

S/he monitors on-site works, carries out needs’ assessments and surveys, and propose, plans, designs, implement and reports new projects.

The position coordinates with the local government, detention, health, water districts, other agencies implementing similar projects, and the beneficiaries of the projects and other relevant departments of the ICRC.

Responsibilities

  • Management, technical oversight, and supervision of rural water projects (spring protection, small-scale water networks, and solar pumping systems
  • Sanitation: focus on community household sanitation and hygiene promotion
  • Structures: implementation of basic cultural and civil engineering projects, including the construction of rehabilitation of essential infrastructure in health facilities and jails
  • Collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross, mobilization of volunteers and engagement with communities in a holistic and team-oriented manner

Required profile

  • University degree in Civil engineering, electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Knowledgeable in hydraulics and architecture
  • Aware of ICRC's humanitarian mission
  • Possesses technical competencies
  • A team player
  • Knowledgeable in English, Filipino and other local languages
