Central African Republic: Children and parents back together at last
04-12-2003 News Release 03/153
After months of separation, Justin, Bénédicte and Fané are to be reunited with their families in Bangui and Bossangoa in the Central African Republic.
The three children had fled their country following the events of last March, and had become separated from their parents. The ICRC registered them when they were living with other Central African refugees in southern Chad. The organization contacted their family in the Central African Republic to check that it would be safe for them to return. On 4 December, an ICRC-chartered aircraft flew them from Sarh in southern Chad to Bangui, from where they will be taken to rejoin their parents.
The ICRC will continue to help unaccompanied refugee children in Chad to rejoin their families in the Central African Republic.
