Click to Care: Humanity in a Digital World is a travelling exhibition jointly organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the National Research Centre for Emergency Medicine (NRCEM). Launched in July 2025, it brings interactive and immersive experiences to different venues, exploring how digital technologies are transforming humanitarian action and reshaping the lives of people affected by armed conflict and other crises.

Digital technologies are increasingly central to how wars are fought and how civilians experience their consequences. They are also transforming humanitarian action, offering new ways to deliver assistance, improve efficiency and save lives. From artificial intelligence and data-driven systems to virtual reality and digital communication tools, these technologies open new opportunities to support people in need. At the same time, they can also create serious risks, including misinformation, surveillance concerns and the misuse or weaponisation of data in crisis contexts.

A key feature of the exhibition is its immersive virtual reality experience, which allows visitors to step into simulated environments and better understand how armed conflict affects civilians. Through VR headsets and interactive installations, participants can experience digital storytelling tools that illustrate the realities faced by people living in conflict-affected areas. The exhibition also includes the ICRC’s interactive “Digital Dilemmas” experience, inviting visitors to explore the difficult choices and ethical challenges that arise when technology intersects with humanitarian crises.

By combining real-world case studies, immersive media and interactive learning, the exhibition highlights both the opportunities and risks of digital transformation in conflict settings. It presents examples of how the ICRC and its partners are using innovative technologies—such as artificial intelligence, remote sensing and digital tools for humanitarian response—to better protect and assist affected communities.

The Click-to-Care exhibition was featured during the 24th Red Cross International Humanitarian Law Moot in Hong Kong, March 2026.

At the same time, the exhibition encourages reflection on the ethical responsibilities that accompany technological progress. It brings together humanitarian, medical, academic and technological perspectives to foster dialogue on how digital tools can be used in line with humanitarian principles, and how potential harms can be reduced.

Ultimately, Click to Care aims to raise awareness, spark dialogue and inspire action among the public and decision-makers. It calls for a responsible and principled approach to technology—one that ensures innovation serves humanity and helps protect the dignity of people affected by armed conflict and other emergencies.
