ICRC internal displacement strategy for 2016–2019

The ICRC has long worked to protect and assist internally displaced people (IDPs) around the world, as part of our mandate to help people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence.

Our Institutional Strategy 2015–2018 places a renewed focus on addressing internal displacement as a priority. Reflecting this, the Directorate has adopted a strategy on internal displacement for 2016–2019. The strategy defines our ambition to strengthen our operational response to internal displacement and to help shape policies and decisions affecting IDPs and the broader discourse surrounding this issue.
