Innovation CICR

Innovation is not new to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). For 160 years, we have met existing, new and future challenges with flexibility and ingenuity while working in some of the world’s most complex environments. And the results show: the Geneva Conventions are as pioneering and necessary today as they were when they were established in 1949.
Innovation takes place across the organization, with staff at all levels around the world pushing the boundaries of how we work. We are testing a range of initiatives in key areas, from adapted products and redesigned processes to new technologies and novel ways of partnering and financing. Some are incremental improvements while others are building blocks for organizational transformation in such fields as the climate and environmental crises, digitalization and data, the energy transition, and virtual reality for immersive training and advocacy.
