The publication presents case studies of initiatives taken in three countries to safeguard the delivery of health care. Each initiative was aimed at triggering behavioural changes among the local population to minimize violence against health-care staff and facilities. The case studies are intended chiefly for humanitarian and health workers and will be of especial interest to people in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The aim in publishing them is to share lessons learned and to stimulate discussion – with officials, legislators, policymakers, etc. – as to how to tackle this critical issue.
