Example Rules for Fighters: From the Perspective of Islamic Law

This document provides the Islamic law perspective to a concise set of international humanitarian law (IHL) rules that non-state armed groups must respect and should integrate into their operational guidance as a minimum standard. These rules are not an exhaustive list of the IHL nor Islamic law rules that apply to non-state armed groups. This document shows that the protections included in this set of IHL rules are also grounded in other legal systems such as Islamic law, so that these values and rules may be leveraged to alleviate suffering in armed conflict.
