Romania: 1st High-level IHL Conference organized by the Romanian Red Cross with ICRC’s support
On 29 May, the Romanian Red Cross (RoRC), in partnership with the "Carol I" National Defense University and the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Police Academy, organized a high-level IHL conference in the Romanian Parliament.
The conference gathered over 100 authorities, humanitarian workers and academia to discuss challenges to the protection of the civilian infrastructure, medical mission and the red cross emblem in peacetime and conflict. The ICRC, military experts and academic scholars contributed diverse perspectives on the instrumentalization of IHL, the militarization of humanitarian assistance and the impact of emerging technologies on humanitarian operations.
