Implementing the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations: The ICRC’s plan of action 2025–2027+

In May 2021, the ICRC adopted the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations, highlighting our commitment to help communities enduring conflict and other violence adapt to a changing climate and environment and to limit our own footprint. This Plan of Action 2025-2027+ gives a high-level overview of how the ICRC is translating the Charter and its specific commitments into practice, following from the first ICRC Plan of Action 2021-2024+. It provides details on the activities that the ICRC will carry out arranged into three interconnected focus areas: integrating climate and environmental risks in our programmes, reducing the ICRC’s environmental footprint, and conducting policy and legal development and engagement on climate and the environment.
