Tagalog book on intersections between IHL and Islamic jurisprudence launched

"IHL and Islamic law" book in Tagalog displayed on a desk

International humanitarian law, also known as the rules of war, aims to protect people from the devastating effects of armed conflict. A 76-page book that was originally written in Arabic and introduces readers to the convergences between IHL and Islamic jurisprudence is now available in Tagalog.

Panimula sa Internasyonal na Batas ng Armadong Labanan sa Islam (“Introduction to International Humanitarian Law in Islam”) was launched in Makati City on 26 June by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), which partnered together to produce the book’s translation into Tagalog. Filipino - the national language and main lingua franca of the Philippines - was mainly derived from Tagalog.
