ICRC evaluations

Evaluations at the ICRC help us learn from what we do as we work to achieve better outcomes for people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. We use evaluations to generate evidence and insights which inform our decision making.

Teams, units and delegations across the organization commission and manage independent external evaluations. In 2021 the ICRC established the centralized Evaluation Office to raise the visibility of existing evaluation practices and support increased use of evaluations. The Evaluation Office commissions and manages independent external evaluations that are relevant the ICRC's institutional strategy.

The Evaluation Strategy 2022-2024 sets out the expectations for strengthening the ICRC's evaluation use and practices. As part of our commitment to transparency and sharing our learning in the sector, evaluation reports are published on our website.
