Ethiopia: Aid for displaced and resident population in south-east
19-04-2005 News Release 05/28
The ICRC has just finished a two-week distribution of aid to nearly 2,000 displaced and resident families living in and around the town of Harodibe in Ethiopia's south-eastern Somali region.
The aid, consisting of tarpaulins, agricultural tools, maize, beans and oil, will guarantee food security for the coming two months in this drought-stricken area and enable traditional farmers to cultivate the land.
Operations such as these are part of an ongoing effort by the ICRC to provide Ethiopian civilians with independent, neutral and impartial assistance, in accordance with the organization's mandate.
